Bhakti Yoga is one of the most unique types of yoga practices which denotes the spiritual practice of fostering loving devotion (bhakti) through the practice of singing and compassion referred to as Bhakti Kirtan or Indian Devotional Music.
Bhakti is a Sanskrit term that signifies an attitude of devotion to a personal Spirit that can be based on a number of human relationships such as beloved-lover, friend-friend, master-servant, and parent-child.
Traditional scriptures, and mystical teachings of several saints teachers of the Bhakti movement are often sung as Bhajans, Kirtan or Sufi Qawwali. Guru Nanak, Kabir, Rumi, Ravidas, Meera, Surdas, Bulleh Shah, and Tulsidas are notable exponenets of Bhakti Yoga Movement. They all have composed several writings that have been sung as bhajans and Kirtan styles. In Bhakti Yoga music mantras as chants are often repeated to invoke spiritual awakening.
